5/22/2023 0 Comments The book the bone collector![]() The author's masterful storytelling, combined with his unique artistic style, makes Bone a remarkable graphic novel. ![]() They stumble upon a deep forested valley filled with a plethora of fascinating creatures, both friendly and frightening, and spend the next year of their lives trying to survive and find their way back home. ![]() The three Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone, are forced to flee their hometown of Boneville and find themselves lost in a vast and uncharted desert. The book is a compilation of all nine volumes of Bone comics, totaling 1300 pages, in one deluxe trade paperback. Bone: The Complete Edition is an epic graphic novel by Jeff Smith that tells the story of three modern cartoon cousins who get lost in a pre-technological valley, spending a year there making new friends and out-running dangerous enemies. ![]() ![]() If you don't wanna read about it don't continue this review.Įven though I enjoyed this book, I have to give it 2 stars for a few reasons.ġ. ![]() The review isn't hidden because of spoilers, although I guess I'll include some, but because there was 1 part that really ruined the book for me that was very distasteful which I'll discuss. Like at all.įollow Arnold on his hilarious journey as he stubbornly comes to grips with his new reality and tries to change his destiny from that of your typical farmer. There is just one small problem: farmers don't gain experience from killing monsters. Now stuck on a new earth, in a new universe, with no way home, Arnold must use his gaming skills to figure out how to level his farmer class to 100 and gain a second class which doesn't make him want to beat his head against the wall. That standard procedure doesn't apply to Arnold. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. Even though the government says that men are equal, the government is composed of men who use other men to provide for their own advantage (178). An example he uses is Slavery during the 19th century. He mentions that the government not only use their power to create laws in their benefit, they abuse their powers to bend the laws for themselves when they are responsible for an unjust act. “Civil Disobedience” focused on how unjust the government is. Today, Thoreau’s work is still used including in films such as “The Great Debaters”. Because of Thoreau”s “Civil Disobedience”, Americans today can decide on their own whether they want to join the army or not. People felt that this was unjust to draft people who did not voluntarily decide to join the army and fought for this to be changed. At the time, the government were drafting of boys and men into the army to fight the war without their consent.
